About Valentines Day
Valentines Day is celebrated on the 14th February and is the probably the most romantic day of the year. Valentines gifts and flowers are exchanged between lovers to express their love for each other, in what is a very old but well observed tradition.
Valentines Day in 2009, is on Saturday 14th February.
Valentines Day is named after St Valentine, one of several saints, but is now just commonly known as ‘Valentines Day’ throughout the UK, Europe and America.
According to Wikipedia, in Wales, many people celebrate Dydd Santes Dwynwen (St Dwynwen’s Day) on January 25th instead of or as well as St Valentine’s Day. The day commemorates St Dwynwen, the patron saint of Welsh lovers.
Over in France Valentine’s Day is known simply as “Saint Valentin”, and in Spain, Valentine’s Day is known as “San Valentín” and are both celebrated the same way as in the U.K.
